This is a 2 part post.
You are here: Part 1 – Detox 101: Know The Basics
Check Out Part 2. How Detox Works…
WHAT IS DETOX?
Our bodies are miraculous machines that can repair and heal themselves in a short period of time.
The body system can kill off viruses and bacteria, and even cancer cells that go through our system every day.
Our bodies also adapted to defend and discharge themselves from toxins to maintain good health and life. But unfortunately this process doesn’t always happen the way it should.
It’s because every single day we get bombarded by toxins from multiple sources. We eat, inhale and absorb toxins through skin.
More and more chemicals and other toxic substances are being developed and introduced to our bodies that can cause tremendous damage if not illuminated properly.
If we leave garbage in the street or overflowing sewer, for example, it becomes a health hazard. The same way, if we leave waste and toxins inside our bodies it becomes a hazard to our health and wellbeing.
The build-up toxins make us feel tired, restless, and irritated. They slow down our metabolism and create brain fog, leaving us with little energy, poor immune system, extra pounds that are hard to lose, and even anxiety and depression.
So Why Do Our Bodies Fail To Eliminate The Unwanted Waste Properly & Detox Effectively?
Reason #1 Too Many Toxins
The biggest reason is large amounts of toxins. They are all around us. They are everywhere.
We get overloaded with so many toxins that our bodies can’t keep up with the burden. That’s why we have no choice but to accumulate toxins over time.
Toxins get stored in bodily tissues – especially fat cells, since most toxins are fat-soluble.
Unwanted wastes keep building up over time leaving us tired, restless, overweight, and sick.
Doctors who specialize in environmental medicine use the term ‘total load’ to describe
the burden imposed by being exposed to so many toxins.
WHERE DO TOXINS COME FROM?
Toxin is a substance that is in some way essentially poisonous to the body. Here is a brief list of modern toxic sources.
Cars and power plants produce smoke containing toxic compounds and heavy metals.
Cigarette smoke, synthetic furniture and building materials make the air more and more
toxic every day.
Chemical cleaners that help to keep our clothes, houses, and other buildings clean with the minimum effort contain toxic elements that which can interfere with our health and wellbeing.
Cosmetics and Skin Care
Perfume, deodorant, lotion, shampoo, sunscreen, this is just a short list of personal care items that go into our bodies every day. Most of them contain chemicals that are toxic and carcinogenic.
Fat is now understood as a systemic stressor, and is itself a creator of inflammatory chemicals that add to your own body burden.
Besides, fat is a storehouse for unprocessed toxins. That’s why those extra pounds not only give your body image anxiety but also contribute to poor health and overall wellbeing on the biological level.
Process foods although convenient, contain too many chemicals to process. Almost every
food that have been pre-cooked, pre-packed or processed in any way contains food additives such as preservatives, coloring agents, thickeners, and flavor enhancers.
All of these chemicals are toxic in the large amounts. Processed food also lacks vital nutrients. Worse, it is full of empty calories making you pack extra pounds and leaving you hungry in the long run.
Insecticides are being sprayed throughout the cabin before international flights, plus ambient germs, air fresheners, and flame-retardants contribute to the foul air on board.
And those who travel long distances are also exposed to cosmic radiation, which can be a
stress to the human system if exposed to too often.
Meat, Dairy, and Fish
Animal fat has been linked to heart disease, obesity and cancers. Besides that, conventionally raised meat and dairy are exposed to chemical pesticides in the food.
Plus hormones and antibiotics are given to the animals to promote growth and fend off disease.
Dairy is especially toxic for those who are lactose intolerant. Lactose then can acts as a
toxin to the body. Water toxins and chemical spills can enter our food chain through fish.
Medication gets detoxified in the liver. This process may weaken and clog the liver.
Even if you don’t take medication it can enter food chain from the diseased animals that have been treated with medication to prevent food poisoning.
It can also enter the food chain through water. Treatment plants were not designed to filter out most chemicals including environmental toxins and medication.
Pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides
Fruits and vegetables are routinely exposed to pesticides and herbicides, which can contain
neurotoxins and carcinogens.
Organics are a far better choice, but even crops that are grown organically can be contaminated with pesticides used many miles away.
Bisphenol (BPA) found in plastic bottles, food storage containers, can liners and packaging
materials has been associated with heart disease, obesity, ADHD, cancer, brain and behavioral problems, and hormone level disruption.
Study suggests that Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), a chemical used in creating nonstick
plastic coatings in cookware and some clothing, has been associated with heart disease.
Consuming too much sugar is linked to diabetes, obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, fatty liver and numerous cancers.
Smoking and Second Hand Smoke
Smoking and inhaling smoke from any burning inhalant is toxic and linked to lung disease
The two major “stress hormones” – cortisol and adrenaline that are secreted when we feel stressed or anxious are useful in short bursts but very toxic in the long term.
They can lead to weight gain, disruptive sleep and can undermine brain function.
Municipally treated water contains chemicals, environmental toxins, lead leached from old pipes, and even tiny amounts of pharmaceuticals – including antibiotics, mood stabilizers, birth control, and other drugs that are flushed down the toilet or excreted with urine.
Make sure you filter tap water or drink spring water from bottles.
Modern wheat bears little resemblance to the grain our ancestors ate.
In fact, highly hybridized, genetically modified foodstuff that contains dozens of carbohydrate and protein molecules that are new to the human body are likely to create a chemical sensitivity.
More & more people develop gluten sensitivity and Celiac disease (CD) – a condition of severe gluten intolerance.
Gluten acts as a toxin for those who are sensitive. Ongoing exposure can result in obesity, heart disease, and even diabetes.
Reason #2 Poor Nutrition
Another big reason why our bodies fail to detox completely is our modern diet.
The modern diet is lacking many vital nutrients that our bodies need. It’s because 70 percent of the food we eat today is processed.
Processed foods are foods that are not found in nature and need to be processed extensively to be edible.
These foods are packaged in boxes, cans or bags and while being convenient, they have had vital nutrients removed intentionally to prolong shelf life or for other reasons, including public demands.
For example, most people eat white bread and rolls, even though 90 percent of magnesium, a mineral essential to effective detoxing, has been milled out of it. That also happens to most processed foods.
Fresh fruit and vegetables losing their vital nutrients and vitamins while being stored on the shelves of the supermarkets or in our refrigerators. The longer we store them,
the fewer nutrients are left.
And because most people eat lots of processed food and very few fruits and vegetables, they get very little nutrition and vitamins.
The lack of nutrients makes their bodies struggle to digest and filter out toxins. Their bodies have no choice, but to store unwanted and unfiltered toxins inside.
The result is toxic build up, poor health, and a continuous struggle to lose weight.
That’s Why We Need Detox.
Detox is a way to reset our bodies’ natural defense mechanism, remove the unwanted
toxins, restore good metabolism, and improve the immune system.
Not only that, detox helps to restore the ‘good’ bacteria in your body, the kind that we call ‘skinny bacteria’ that promotes weight loss and overall good health.
The result is restored energy, good rest at night, a clear mind, better health, and a better body.
The natural defense system becomes better at fighting off viruses and bacteria and eliminating toxins.
Many women find cellulite disappears, and so do cravings for junk food and sweets.
They feel less hungry, irritable, and anxious. They experience fewer mood swings and are able to maintain a healthy weight in the long run.
Our bodies are great at recovering and boosting it’s own natural detox system when they get the right conditions. All we need are these right tools. That’s what Delicious Detox is about.
It’s about giving your body the right conditions and the right tools to boost the defense
mechanism naturally and flush all the built-up toxins out.
Not only that…
During Delicious Detox, you are going to introduce the “good” bacteria that help to filter out toxins better. These “good” bacteria come from good quality probiotics.
They can help minimize the chances of toxic build-up in the future. They can also help to
restore good metabolism, and jump-start and promote weight loss.
Most people reported losing anywhere from 2 to 5 pounds after finishing the Delicious Detox program, and also being able to continue losing weight after finishing the detox program, while maintaining a healthy diet.
They also reported fewer mood swings, more energy, a clearer mind, and being able to control the cravings with ease.
In the next post we will talk about How Detox Works…
